I am cruising the Voyage of the Glaciers on the Diamond Princess from Anchorage to Vancouver and have decided on shore excursions in all ports except Skagway. Has anyone taken the Best of Skagway tour which combines a bus tour, rail tour, gold panning, and the Red Light district? If so, what is your opinion of the tour?
CobiaCaptain, While I have not taken this specific tour myself, I have received feedback from others that have and they found the rail tour to be the only part they would highly recommend. The Red Light District portion is to take you to the Red Onion Saloon which is in the center of town and easily done on your own. Nancy
Agree with Tom and Nancy - Skagway is relatively compact little town, close to the cruise port and can be done on your own. The White Pass Railway is supposed to be a "do not miss" excursion if you haven't done it before.
