I'm cruising in May 2007 with HAL on MS ZAANDAM and our ports include Skagway. We are an active group and are interested in similarly active shore excursions (biking, hiking, kayaking). I've read about the rock climbing/rappelling excursion and I'm interested to see if anyone has any info on that, or other Skagway excursions, including whether you went through the cruise line or used a non-cruise operator. Thanks!
The only thing we did was the railroad but part way up the mountain they dropped some people off that were going to be hiking so you got the best of the railroad and some hiking. You should get a book from HAL that gives you different excursions in each port. We loved Skagway, cool little town. Be sure to stop in at the Red Onion Saloon.
