We are considering an Inside passage cruise for the 14 of sept next year. Has anybody been at the end of the season? Thinking of a balcony but don't want to have to wear a parka to do so. We are also considering Holland America ,good choice or not?

Holland America is always a good choice, in my opinion. But you will need that parka on your balcony that late in the season. The days are shorter, consequently less sunlight, if at all, because the rain becomes more frequent. It might help if the balcony is covered, but that depends on the ship and the location on the ship. Your travel agent can help you there.

We did the inside passage the first week of September a few years ago, and had beautiful weather.... But, you never can tell that time of year on the Inside Passage. The weather is always variable. We sailed Holland America and LOVED it. There were cultural activities on the ship and a naturalist on board. Glacier Bay was spectacular, even in a drizzle (which cleared by mid-morning). We saw lots of whales and even saw dolphins. Eagles, moose, bear... lots of critters coming down to the mouths of the rivers. Great itinerary, great cruise line.
