I'm in the process of booking my first Alaskan cruise departing Vancouver to Whittier. I have a choice between a balcony on the port side (mid ship) and a balcony on the starboard side closer to the front of the ship. The port side room is about 30 square feet larger and both are available at the same price. Some suggest taking the right side, saying the view is better especially when you hit College Fjord. Others say take the bigger room. I'm sure the view from either side will be stunning, but since I have not cruised before, I would value any and all opinions. Thanks

I would opt for the larger cabin as the views are awesome on both sides of the ship. The Captain will "spin" the ship when viewing glaciers to make sure that everyone has equal views.

Have a great cruise!

Starboard mate! Yeah, they will turn the ship so everybody sees the sights but for straight, non-stop viewing I would be looking toward the mainland rather than the islands. As for whale viewing, they will announce it and everybody comes out on deck anyway.
