We are taking an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. Is the third week in May a nice time to go? I have read a lot about Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay, does it really matter which one? Does anyone know any good hotels to stay at in Seattle? It will only be one night and we are looking for convenience but something nice.
We would appreciate any feedback we could get. Thanks!

Since it's your honeymoon, please do yourselves a favor and consult with a cruise-oriented travel agent about this. There are so many good options to choose from, and so many details to think about when it comes to a wedding - why add to the stress by trying to figure out all the details of your honeymoon?

As far as your timing goes, third week of May is usually a pretty good time to go; fares are a bit lower than they will be later in the summer, days are long, bugs aren't quite out in force yet, and the humpback whales are back. Orcas may be also (we missed them, going the first and second weeks of May). Weather will be cool, so dress in layers, and be sure to take rain gear (that's true any time of year in southeast Alaska). And make sure to book a balcony cabin!! Scenery is nonstop, 24/7.

We did the Serenade of Seas alaska cruise a couple of months ago. I was up there in May the year before. The weather is about the same in may as it was in June. We really enjoyed the Hubbard Glacier trip. We cruise every year. On this trip we got a Balcony Cabin. I would recommend it on the Alaska trips. We spent many hours just watching the scenery go by.

If you make it to Ketchican, take a float plane trip. We used Seawind Aviation. This was the highlight of our trip. The views from the plane were awsome. We did a whale watching trip in Juneau.

Have fun on the trip.

I also strongly recommend a balcony cabin, especially for Alaska, and even more so since it's your honeymoon! Smile
