Not sure exactly if this helps... We did a helicopter ride in the Grand Canyon, didn't bother any of us. My husband can get nauseous, but he did fine. We went on a cruise in the Western Carribean -- no problem. In Denali we took a K2 Aviation plane into Denali. We couldn't do the "glacier landing" because it wasn't sunny enough. However on the way back in I started getting a little nauseous. Everyone else was fine.
Do you have the option of a stop on a glacier with a plane? I would guess it lands/takes off from a runway/field someplace smooth, and not on the glacier. When we were in Juneau, our plane excursion was cancelled due to bad weather in the area where we were going. So, we were able to get on a helicopter to land on Mendenhall glacier. The glacier is extremely uneven and jagged. So that is why I was saying I didn't think a plane could land right on the glacier, unlike a helicopter. I personally would choose a helicopter, I think it would be more flexible in where it can land, and also flying lower to avoid the weather. These are my thoughts. Lil' Lori
The planes have those "skids" or "skiis" on them, I'm not sure what they're called. Anyway I see what you're saying about the helicopter able to landand take off better. We weren't able to land due to not enough sun (the weather was fine) so I really don't know about how the take off would have been, not that you bring it up. Go with the helicopter if you're able to do a glacier landing (I'm not sure about the span on the helicopter blades vs. a small prop type plane though).
