I heard that earlier in the season ships were not able to get close to Hubbard Glacier.

Has anyone cruised Hubbard in the past few weeks and can confirm if the ships are still not able to get close or if they have been getting close?

Hi, We were on Celebrity and our cruise ship sailed up to within 1/3 mile of the Hubbard Glacier. It was quite a site from our state room! Here are a few pictures

RG17 great pictures...sure wish we would have got to see it in May but the entrance was blocked then, I was very disappointed.

Last week serenade of the seas was half a mile from the glacier, despite being freezing going in there, it was still an awesome sight. The cruise director after we got there, was out in the water in a smaller boat, then went for a swim, heard and saw lots of calving. Took lots of pictures, got home yesterday, but the pictures will have to wait until later this week to be developed, since i'm beat at the moment. Had a great time, the weather was wonderful, wanna go back

Sure did, had a down jacket on fleece sweater and pants, had on gloves to, hands were cold, but hot chocolate did the trick. Wanna go back, and its only been two days since returning. Had a wonderful time.
