There is a Princess cruise shore tour offering snorkeling at Mountain Point in Ketchikan. The photos in the brochure look very colorful and could be some of the best snorkeling. Has anyone done this snorkeling excursion? Would luv to hear input as to what their experience was like. thanks
I don't know what time of the year you are going, but the AVERAGE water temp in the narrows is 47 degrees. Even with gloves, booties and a GOOD wet suit or dry suit, snorkeling cannot really be that much fun in water temperatures that cold.
I disagree with you SailorJack... My daughter, her Aunt and her 3 sons went on the snorkel excursion in Alaska. They had a wonderfull time. The wet suit had a hood and gloves, so the only exposed part of you is your mouth area. It was really quite warm and at times, the boys said that they were working enough that they got too warm and had to unzip the wet suit enough to let some cool water in.
The reef they were on had lots of life on it since it had not been over run by tourists like in the Caribbean. If you like snorkeling, I say go for it.. I don't think you will be disappointed.
