Hey all what is the deal with the 2009 Genesis I hear it is going to be bigger than the Freedom OMG what next I mean does it just keep getting bigger and bigger I understand it to be like a floating city does anyone know about how much bigger than the Freedom it will be???

Not only bigger, but A LOT BIGGER! like 50,000 tons heavier.

Holy Cow - - - - and to think I'm overwhelmed by 1800 passengers! I can't even imagine it. How will the size impact where it can go?

Its like that joke- "Where does a 500 pound gorilla sit?- Anywhere its wants too..."

And as far as being like a floating city.. the big cruise ships we have now are already floating cities. They are completely self contained utilities wise... Except for needing to import consumables, you could live on one indefinetly.

How did yall hear about the Genesis, is it on royal caribbean's website? I haven't heard anything about it.

I first heard about it at a Crown and Anchor party on the Adventure of the Seas in February. One thing I remember is that it will only have a 30 foot draft. Which means, it will only set a couple of feet deeper in the water. The difference is size from a "Voyager" class ship to the "Genesis" class, is like from the "Radiance" class to the "Voyager" class.
That's a big difference in size.

It all started with RCCL issuing press releases about Genesis. I guess that was a year or two back. There is lots of info on the web. And RCCL also talks it up on current cruises, usually at the Crown & Anchor repeaters party.

On the Freedom maiden voyage, the Captain talked about Genesis quite a bit. He said the catch phrase being used in the RCCL office for Genesis is "Game Over".

Wow, cant wait to hear more about the Genesis!! And I must say I like the catch phrase "Game Over" that is a very cocky statement, I like it!!!

The Genesis will be 220,000 Tonnage with 5,400 passengers at double occupancy.

Think about it - - - I grew up near a town of 10,000 people..... This really will be a village on the water.

Imagine the luggage nightmare.
