I have read messages indicating this will be a pricey trip. What is the expected cost, without airfair for a cruise?

matkanmich, anyone who speculates on pricing is doing just that, speculating. Until they release the ship for new bookings no one knows what the rates will be or how quickly they'll rise or fall after release. Popular new ships with new features frequently are significanly higher than other ships in a cruiselines fleet. Look at what Freedom and Liberty of the Seas are selling for on any given date and add some cost to that pricing (how much of an add? don't know). If it takes off for bookings at the initial pricing, it will climb in cost fast. If the pricing they release is higher than people are willing to pay and they can't get adequate bookings to fill the ship before sailing, it'll drop like a stone. My guess, and it is only a guess is that it'll sell very well and pricing for the most desirable dates like Christmas, New Year, spring break and summer vacation times as well as other holidays, will climb after its release as time goes on. Then at some point in the future as more ships in the class are built and released it will come back down to earth. By then will you still be as enthusiastic about getting onboard or will you bite the bullet and pay the introductory rates to sail while she's new?
Cheers, Neil
