Hello well I have yet another question SonnyV and Dave56 you all seem to have went on many many many cruises and I see some others have done quite a few cruises as well I guess my question is howin the world does one get 100's of cruises under the belt I mean that seems like it would take a life time. My sister says 3 day cruises are really not worth the time what are the thoughts to all this??? :rolleyes
Well I am not sure how people get 100's of cruises under their belts, but my wife says that travel agents sometimes count viewings of ships or the one day Travel Agent cruises to look at new ships as cruises...As far as 3 day cruises, my first cruise was 3 days to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico, I guess it is a good starter cruise, and if you want a "little" get away and can afford it, it is nice. My wife has these clients that take probably 2 cruises a year and at least once, if not both are 3 day cruises to Catalina and Ensenada, why? I have no idea, they like it, sometimes they stay on the ship at the ports and sometimes they leave the ship. I guess it is all personal opinion.

The Freedom will be my 30th cruise with Royal Caribbean. I only have one 3 day cruise. I did get credit for a cruise even though it was only 3 days. If you book a suite you get credit for 2 cruises. I never book a suite because I could almost go on a back to back for the same amount. I met a lady from California that had over 180 cruises. She has the most, but there are a few close behind her. We have friends that have 136 cruises. They do back to back cruises 3 times a year. Sometimes in a suite so they get another credit. I don't think a travel agent gets a credit for lookink at a ship. I was on the Freedom in May for a free two night cruise and didn't get a credit for that. No complaints here, I was thankful for the free cruise . My first cruise was on a Carnival ship in 1993. In 1997 my second cruise was on NCCL. The same year I tried Royal Caribbean and never has a desire to sail on any other cruise line. Sorry, didn't mean to tell you my life's story...
Spritfilled I will answer questions upon my return and let you know how everything went...I will do the best I can I am going with my wife, 3 kids, brother in law, father in law and his girlfriend, so we will be busy people.
And as far as travel agents getting credit for cruises...I dont know about what Sonny was saying, I was just basing my comment on that travel agents personally may count viewings as cruises, but not as far as credits with the cruise company....

Sprit, we love 3 day cruises and have been on many of them. When we want a long weekend away but can't take a whole work-week, the 3-nighters are perfect. We leave Friday morning and are back in town Monday afternoon. We can take a lot more 3 night cruises a year than 7 nighters, so we do. We also take longer cruises, but the 3 night cruises are definitely worth it to us, when that's all the time we have to spend.
Sandy, you must live near a port. If I did, I would take 3 night cruises too. I have to pay the cost of a 3 night cruise just for my airfare. What a bummer...
Sonny, I don't live near any ports doing 3-night cruises. My closest port is Baltimore, and I've never even sailed out of that one!
There are often sales with low airfares between me and either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, plus we've used frequent flyer miles in the past and have flown for free. We don't mind spending the money, because our perceived value of a 3-night cruise getaway is so high!
Sandy, I see your point. I use my frequent flyer miles to sail out of San Juan. I figure if I'm going to get free tickets I want the most I can get. We did the Adventure in February and will do another cruise out of San Juan next year. I'm booked for a Freedom cruise on Oct 15th and I'm watching for a 4 or 5 night cruise the week before. I was planning on flying in to Ft. Lauderdale a couple of days early anyway. Something out of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami will work.
Sonny, I love the Enchantment 4 and 5 night cruises out of Lauderdale. I'm escorting a group on the Enchantment in January, and am excited about it because I haven't seen that ship since the stretch.
We're also sailing Pride of Hawaii in December, with friends, and I'm keeping an optimistic thought about that one...
I am a huge fan of 3-night cruises. Not that I wouldn't love to stay longer, but it just doesn't always work with my schedule. It's so much easier to get a bunch of my friends together.. take a Friday and Monday off.. spend $250 to get on the ship.. and have an awesome time! But.. yes, I live in Tallahassee, and that makes it much easier for me than many of you to take just Friday and Monday. It's only a 4 hour drive to Port Canaveral.
I have been on lots of cruises especailly 3-5 day cruises. They are convienent for me. I go on Friday-Monday alot. It saves my vacation time for longer cruises and occasional mountian trips (North Carolina). I love them all. I am like Sonny though Royal Caribbean is the Line I will go on. I started cruising in 1983 and back then did 1 a year. This year I will do 6 maybe 7 if December works out for time off. I would rather go on a cruise than stay at a nice hotel. They are about the same price and guess what the cruise will feed me great food, I get excellent service and do not have to worry about DUI's if I decide to party. Also you meet the most fantastic people on a cruise. The ship I recommend the most (3-4 day) is the Soverign of the Seas.
