We are cruising in late January out of Miami on Royal Caribbean and need a hotel to stay in the Friday night before departure. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decently priced hotel close to the port or will a hotel in downtown Miami do for us? Is there anything around port to do? How far is the airport from the Port and is the easiest way to get there by taxi? Any help would be much appreciated.

I suggest that you go online to Holiday Inn and book at Holiday Inn Downtown which is about 10 minuters from the Port and just accross the road from ther Bayside shopping, restaurants and entertainment area. Price around $110.US
Its clean and comfortable.

For $225 you can stay at the Intercontinental which is real nice but hardly worth the extra unless you like that type of hotel.

I second Mike's suggestion. If you are just looking for something reasonable in a perfect location the Holiday Inn across from Bayside is perfect.

I have agree the Holiday Inn is just fine.
We stayed there a couple of weeks ago on a friday night and the Bayside is great. They have so many shops, and music by the water at night....just cross the street and your there!

We are also cruising in January(1/15) and have booked a room at the Days Inn (1950 W. 49th Street). The cost is $84. per room off the internet. They also have shuttle service from Miami airport and to the Port on saturday and sundays...can't beat it!!
