isnt there a beach on one of these islands that the airplanes land pretty close to you on the beach?

Yes, it is Maho Beach on St. Maarten. It is located right at the end of the landing strip.

thanks for the reply, i am going on explorer can we take a cab and get there from our port or is that on a side of the island we cant get to.

Yes, you can take a cab. It is on the Dutch side of the island. A hurricane did destroy parts of that road and the beach, but it has been rebuilt since then. Best views are from the Beach Bar which is at the opposite end of the beach from Maho Beach Resort & Casino.
