Hi everybody! Just a quick note to let you know we are having a great time. It rained in Bermuda and today the seas are rough, but the Navigator is a smooth ride. We are moving along a 6 knots right now. Tonight we're going to the mystrery dinner with Angle and Leonard. Last night we had dinner at Chops and it was Great! Don't worry, I'll get pictures for you to look at. I'll be log in every other day or so if there is something worth reporting.
I'm glad we can live vicariously through your pictures. Sorry the weather isn't cooperating today, but have another rum punch and it should be ok. We miss you!
It's 66 degrees cloudy and the seas are pretty calm. Last night we did the mystery dinner and really had a good time. Just wanted to let you know the weather is getting much better...
66 degrees is a little too cold for me. Glad to hear the seas are better. Can't wait to hear about the mystery dinner when you get back. Smooth sailing!
"Navigator of the Seas" is still in Lisbon today due to a malfunction involving one of her stabilizers. Port calls at Cadiz and Malaga have been cancelled and it is unknown at this time whether the cruise can end in Barcelona on time.
Local authorities in Lisbon have apparently decided to prohibit the ship from leaving. However, it had to vacate the pier and is currently anchored on the Tejo river.

Dave, you're not saying Sonny is the Instigator of the Seas are you?? Hmmm. At least if you have to be moored, the Tagus River provides a beautiful setting.

it appears there is a major problem with one of the stabilizers which apparently can no longer be folded in. Reports from onboard the ship suggest that the stabilizer will likely be (quote) "cut off" as the Portuguese authorities reportedly don't consider the ship seaworthy unless the problem is solved.
I see divers and a plasma arc torch in the Navigator's immediate future!
I was making a joke about the petition earlier - but looking around the internet it appears some of the passengers are seriously considering pressuring RCI for compensation already. No doubt the trial lawyers aboard the ship are hyperventilating over this. Why can't people relax and not immediately jump into "what's in it for me" mode?
Not only the people on board now, but imaging the future cruises that are going to be affected to fix the problem. Dry docking and repair of something like that is going to be time consuming. Unless they can cut off the stabilizer and just do with out it until maintenance time. But I doubt that.
At least Sonny is going to have some interesting stories to tell upon his return.

Yes, it will be interesting to hear Sonny's first hand account of it. I'm hoping he will log on and update us from the ship.
This 14-night cruise was already heavily discounted - I think it ended up being about the price of a 7-nighter - but that won't be good enough for some. I'm sure RCI will do something more substantial than the $100 credit they have already issued to each passenger.
I have to agree with Penny... Milk this for all that it's worth. It wouldn't bother me if it took them a month to get the ship back to being "seaworthy". As long as there is a good supply of sun and alcohol, I would stake out a good deck chair and become one with the European sky.
