I posted a discussion a while back asking what should we do in Miami for 1 day, the ever reliable Dave B suggested an excursion. Has anybody been on the 4 or 5 hour Miami everglade tour and is it worth it

I think that's a great idea, does it include an airboat ride? That's really the best way to see the glades. I'm not sure if they'll take you to the Indian reservation, but that's really neat, too. The Everglades is a unique ecosystem, they have drained a lot of it, but there is still a good bit left. You'll get to see lots of alligators, strange birds, and huge trees, sometimes some deer and a panther. Another of my favorites is Villa Vizcaya, it's the old John Deere Estate. Quite futuristic for its time, with a gazebo in the bay for parties, an indoor bowling alley, a beautiful indoor/outdoor pool, and the gardens are magnificent.
Just wanted to say that the Gator Park day trip to the Everglades in Miami was a lot of fun! My husband and I went following a 3 night Bahamas cruise on Majesty in Dec. 2007 and it was cool. We learned a lot, the people there were friendly and had a good sense of humor. I am definitely glad we included it in our trip. They include lunch and an airboat ride for the price...which I think was around $60. It also includes the bus back to the airport, either FLL or MIA, which ever one you need.
