I don't think either side matters. You will probably want to be up on deck to really see the transit.

Have done panama twice and found that forward-port balcony on deck 7 is great. these balconys are larger and this side (left) has the most action if your heading west.

SusieCruise We just came thru the canal Oct, 3rd west to east and had a balcony on the port side but like others have said I don't think it's going matter. We went down to the outside walk around deck ( not sure what deck it is on your ship) and as the ship went down in the locks you were level with the ground and had a great view of how it all worked. Go to www.pancanal.com the web cams show the locks. As you come out on the west side and head north the right side balcony will let you see the coast line as they come into the ports. It took about 12 hours from the time we started in the canal until we were out the side. Do you want the morning sun and sunrise on your balcony or the hot afternoon sun. We really enjoyed our trip. Enjoy your cruise. Any other info needed just pvt.message us. Bentnail
