How difficult will it be for a group of 12 to take the hydrofoil or ferry from the Naples dock to Capri? We will be there Oct. 4, 2008 possibly behind the summer crowds. We dock at 7AM and there are only 3 morning hydrofoils 7:55, 10:10 and 11:00. There are only 2 returning @ 1:55 or 4:30. I fearthat the last one is too risky for a 6 PM sailing. Has anyone gone to Capri independently without a hitch? How much longer is the ferry ride than the hydrofoil? Thanks, Carol
Capri is very easy to do on your own. The ferry takes about twice as long as the hydrofoil (45 min. v. about 90). The 4:30 return would be fine if it leaves on time; but that's a big IF.
Just a suggestion: we took a ship tour that started with the hydrofoil to Capri; then another to Sorrento for sightseeing and a great lunch at a seaside reataurant. Then to Pompeii for a guided tour, and back to the ship. It wasn't cheap, but we felt it was well worth it--no worries about schedules, currency, ets. Just a thought.
