We will be stopping in Casablanca on a Princess cruise in September, and aren't sure what to expect. Does anyone have any recommendations for excursions at this port? We are in our mid-60's, fairly active, and not afraid of a little adventure. We like photo ops, history and seeing the country side.
This is tough to answer. We have been to that port twice in the past 3 years, but always went off on our own. For those that like tours, some like going to Marakesh although that involves nearly 6 hours on a bus just going between the two cities. We really enjoyed touring the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (the 2nd largest Mosque in the world), but none of the ships tours include a tour of the inside...which is what we loved (we did this on our own). On our last visit, we took the train to Rabat, and it was OK, but nothing I would recommend for a first visit. To be honest, I would probably recommend going on your own, heading directly over to the Mosque and paying for the English speaking tour (they only have these tours a few times a day) and than going to the center of town (near the Hyatt) and enjoying the local bazaar. You can also stop in at the Hyatt where they have a pleasent lobby bar.
