I was wondering if anyone has any information on the disembarkation/customs process in Venice. From what i can tell, the ship arrice at 10:30, and I would like to be on a train to Munich at around 1:00 PM. any past experiences would be of assistance. Thanks!
It is were easy. We had been on the Costa Med. last year. We had to wait about half an hour, because first the passengers with flight connections were allowed to leave the ship. Customs procedure is very simple. You leave the ship and in the big hall you have to pick up your luggage. Than you will go to the shuttle bus in front of the station. The bus will bring you to Piazzale Roma, from where you can go to St. Lucua in about five to ten minutes. Have a nice trip Uwe
Another wy to go to the railway station: Those arriving on a cruise ship or ferry will come in to the main Stazione Marittima basin and the San Basilio pier (which serves smaller ships and river vessels). The link to venice transport is:
I think I like the idea of the shuttle and a short walk. I may look at flying now as I have located a flight from Venice to Munich that will be quicker and cheaper than the train.
You have eased my mind as to the timeline. I have spent up to four hours getting off ships in the past.
