My travel agent is recommending that we do not stay in Rome for 3 nights before our Cruise as she says it is very difficult (and expensive) to get from Rome to Civitavecchia where the ship is docked. She recommends that we take the ships transfer from the airport directly to the ship and if we want to stay in Rome to do so after the cruise. We prefer to stay in Rome before the cruise..can anyone give us information on where we can get transportation from Rome to the Port and the cost?
there are regular trains (running every 30 minutes or so) from Rome to Civitavecchia, which cost a couple of Euros per person only. These run from several stations in Rome, including Roma Termini, Roma Tuscolana, Roma Ostiense, Roma Trastevere, and Roma S. Pietro. The one-way trip is approx. 30 minutes to one hour, depending on where you board the train.
