What to do in Katakolon? Has anyone taken the excursion to see the Domain Mercouri Winery? The drive might be interesting to see some of the county side?

Well, you can do what everyone else does there... go see Olympia. They have a nice little beach area right there in town, they also have a rental car place were you can rent a car and drive along the coast or rent a moped and do the same (I'm not a big fan of renting mopeds though). If you really want to see the countryside, then your winery tour sounds like a good choice too.

Thank you Jim
I appreciate your info.
Maybe someone has been on the wine tour and can tell me if they enjoyed or if it wasn't worth it?????

Hiring a car is an option, there is a car hire place near the port.

We booked George and he was excellent. A taxi driver, he took us to Olympia, into the village, on a tour round the area, we picked fresh oranges and figs and then went onto the winery. We didn't have much time there but enough for my husband to do a little wine tasting. The winery is only about 5 minutes away from the port so you wouldn't see much of the country side.

Take a look at George's website. Even if this is not for you, his site will give you some other ideas of what you can do in port.
