Any suggestions for a route to start your own walking tour in Tallinn from where the ship docks? How long will it take you to walk this route? How early did you start your walk? did you feel safe while you were walking in Tallinn? Trying to decide if i should just walk to see the town or take the ship's tours or go on a HOHO tour. Thanks for any advice.

In Tallinn you can walk on your own, in 15 min you're right in the heart of the city. Why shouldn't you feel safe Roll Eyes?

I already gave you lots of advice for Helsinki. I wonder if you got to read that and if it was of any help....a little thank you wouldn't be too much.

The city is too small for HOHO tour.

If you feel safer: I had on our tour a nice private guide who take us through the city.

Costs for half day 50 EUR.

We appreciated very much to learn from her about Estonian Culture and Country.

If you want her e-mail-address send a PM to me.

She collected us from the port and returned us after the tour at the entrance to the port area.

She told us: RUSSIA MAFIA NOT INTERESTED IN ESTONIA. TOO SMALL AND ONLY WOOD BUSINESS.

We had the impression like we had in Western European Countries.

That's the distance from the ship to the old town (church):

cruise fanatic here writing from the Century under Tom's sign on.
Tallinn is perfectly safe. As the above poster stated it is about a 15 minute walk from the peer. As always you should take precautions anywhere you travel. We were just in Tallinn two days ago. It is a charming, quaint city. Wear good walking shoes.

AnjaP, HeinBloed, Tom, I have just read all your answers today and haven't had a chance to thank you yet as I've been working 12 hour nightshifts. You all have been such a big help with all your suggestions and I shall take into account all your advice. Thank you all very much. Smile
