The ship is offering the Palace with some odds and end thrown in old Corfu for $89, 4 hrs total. All I want is to get to the Palace, wander around as much as I want (8 Hrs in port) and get back to Old town and wander till embarkation. Suggestions please. Thanks.

Hi - since you did the Corfu visit, how did you like it & how did you get from the ship to wherever you went? We're going in late Oct. & just want to see 1 or 2 places, then wander the shopping area. Any suggestions? Thanks, seajill

Take a taxi to the Palace. VERY cool was The Palace was where they filmed "For your Eyes Only" James Bond!
The palace is a taxi ride to downtown Corfu. Alot of the shops close on certain days around 2 and open back up at 5. On certain days they don't open back up. You might want to walk around early in the shops and then do The Palace.

Thanks. I love palaces, castles, mansions, grand architecture, etc...anything else of special interest in Corfu? Will catch the Bond movie again.

Yes. Paleostritkis (sp?) is awesome although on the opposite side of the island. Rental cars are available right outside of port. We negotiated a good deal on a convertible and enjoyed the sun and beauty of the area. Stay away from Mouse Island. It was a rip off. The Liston downtown is a good place to visit as well. Near shopping and very cool to watch others walking around the area. Very easy place to travel to based upon size but, mainly signage. We found Athens "VERY" difficult to manuver based upon the alphabet. Cofu was a breeze! Enjoy! We had a friend in the states that was from Corfu in a village named Pentanti. Great place to return to and remember "YASSU" and "YASSAS". Yassu is hello or good-bye to one person where "Yassas" is hello or good-bye to two or more. You will LOVE Corfu!

Was reading my original response to you and it appears to be altered from what I wrote? Downtown is a walk or a taxi ride. I suggest renting a car to see the Palace and to be able to see some of the other areas I noted on the last two e-mails. Not sure what happened on that one?
