Can anyone recommend companies to arrange private tours for a small group in the ports of Villefranche and Santorini? How safe is it to make arrangements with a company that you find online if they are not recommended by someone you know has used that company?

I can't recommend specific companies, but I can tell you there are several out there. I would go with a personal recommendation rather than choosing one off the 'net, sight unseen. Anyone can say they're a reputable tour company with safe vehicles, licensed drivers and tour guides, etc. I'd feel safer with a company someone knows something about.
