Princess offers a full day tour of all three places. I am wondering if it is possible to see all three in one day without rushing and if the tour would provide enough time in Pompeii to do it justice. Anyone know anything about this shore excursion?
Hi, Mobyduck, it's a hurry,Pompeji / Sorrento / Capri in one day.... To see Pompeji, you have to spend at least two hours. Bus from Naples cruise terminal to Pompeji about one hour. FRom there to Sorrento half an hour. Than ferry to Capri ( I apprenend you have not enough time for the blue grotto) and again one hour with the ferry to Naples.... Look in the chat for more information e.g. in <European Port Chat>
The tour is one of those type tours that are part of the "If its Tuesday it must be Belgium" syndrome loved by many of our fellow Americans. Yes, you will be rushed in Pompeii, Sorrento and also Capri. Yes, you will get to all three locations in a single day. In fact, its even possible to do the trip on your own by taking a train to Pompeii Scavi, than continuing on the same train line to Sorrento, than taking the jet boat over to Capri, and finally taking the hydrofoil back to Naples. I guess its an option if you are determined to see the most in a single day. But, for my money its not the way to see Europe.
You only have time to cast a glance at Pompeji, the wonderful Sorrento or Capri. Capri for itself is worth for a daytrip. This tree sightseeing stations in one day seems like Europe in three days... I suggest to go by train (circumvesuviana) first to Pompeji (Stop is Scavi) for about four hours, than back with the railway to Ercolano (direction Naples) for another two hours. I prefer Ercolano. There you will see more of the origine buildings. Regards Uwe
